Bus stalled along Choa Chu Kang Road with smoking engine, no injuries reported

SINGAPORE – A bus was stopped along Choa Chu Kang Road on Wednesday (Oct 19) afternoon, and smoke was seen venting from the vehicle.

Straits Times reader Darren Ng, who sent in a video of the incident, said it took place at a bus stop in front of the Choa Chu Kang depot.

He said an explosion was heard, followed by thick smoke.

Firefighters arrived shortly after.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said the engine compartment of the bus was cooled down using a hose reel and that there was no sign of fire and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
